No. This is Cameron DeJong's independent owner guide. Tesla's app and current program terms remain the source of truth.

We still like our Kia EV6. The Tesla is simply a different world.

The real-owner difference

After driving the Model 3 consistently during our first months of ownership, we took our EV6 back onto the highway. It is still a good car. What surprised us was how complete the Tesla experience felt by comparison: the drive, software, controls, app, and connected ecosystem all feel like one idea.

“The new-car excitement has not worn off. Living with it has made us appreciate it more.”

Why trial time with FSD matters.

Your roads, your verdict

In our first-100-days account, at about 3,000 miles, roughly 56% of our driving used FSD. Time on our own roads is what showed us its value and its limits. A free month gives other owners the same chance to decide for themselves. Our FSD trial checklist shows how we would use it.

Supervised really means supervised.

In an earlier software version, FSD tried to reach 55 mph in our 25 mph neighborhood. I immediately overrode it and slowed down. On 14.3.13, Standard mode has been much better about the speed limit, but the driver must stay attentive and ready to intervene at all times.

We have also enjoyed using Grok for discussions and a few jokes along the way. More recently, its email connector helped me send a timely travel-delay update to a client while we were on the road. Read the dated Grok Connectors field note for what happened, how I set it up, and the limits I am still exploring. Grok remains beta, and availability can vary.

Our first service appointment impressed us.

The passenger-side mirror was overextending. Tesla handled the communication through the mobile app, replaced everything that was needed, and had the car ready for same-day pickup. We did not need a loaner, but one would have been available. The communication was excellent.

01

Verify, do not assume

Tesla changes referral programs. We date every check and say plainly when an offer disappears.

02

Disclose everything

We state exactly what I receive from each referral, and we never offer extra incentives.

03

Show what we know, and what we do not

We date owner observations, name limits, and keep possible causes separate from what we actually saw.
